The Birth of Anna Logue

A new OC and now my Artsona, Ms. Anna Logue was created by accident for this specific website and has become its mascot (and mine haha). The idea was to first create something a little scary, but I soon realized it wasn’t entirely me. Do I want her a little unsettling? Yes. The first time I drew her, it was a creepy face, which she will still possess but only when there’s a glitch (her hair can also turn red when she’s angry). The concept intrigued me so I began working more closely with her concept, name, and story.

While her story isn’t very garnished yet, I began with sketches and ideas on paper, which I then brought to my tablet and began sketching. What face would she have? What does she wear? Should she look realistic or cartoony? I’ve always loved this 40’s/50’s look… Maybe 20’s Betty Boop? I asked what age she would be, what she does for a living. I’m nostalgic, so should she be more retro? What about her ethnicity? I’m white, it would be disingenuous to present as otherwise and wrong. But I could use unnatural colors like the characters in Mainframe’s 90’s cartoon Reboot… What about her hair?

Then I asked myself who inspired me in my younger years. Marilyn Monroe is always a big inspiration… Maybe I should use a similar face on screen? The screen is what I want people to see, not who I really am, so it makes sense. Then I opted for a one piece instead of a dress because I’m not huge on dresses and never really was. So it’s a bit of a pinup look. Should I add eyes to make it scary? Hm… I decided no. That I wanted to keep it simple. Then I made the television smaller because the rectangle one was a pain to work with and I felt square made things easier.

But what about a name? Vox and Clara T. Vellum (CTV) sounded fun, but boring… Then I asked myself, what sounds like analog? And realized I could do a play on words: Ms. Anna Logue. Perfect!

I’ve yet decided is I’m adding tattoos the way I wear them, and what she would have for tattoos if she does have them.

So this is my progress!
