An Indian girl kidnapped and sent to a mental hospital in America, Kumari is also Azazel's vessel.
Billions of years in the past, a Universe collapsed, and a handful of its survivors found refuge in ours. Their Universe was not annihilated at random: these inter dimensional beings were playfully destructive and sought to amuse themselves in our Universe next. They ate planets, suns, broke galaxies apart with a breath and bathed inside the singularity of black holes. Upon finding Earth, they realized human civilization was rather naive and amusing. For millennia these creatures masqueraded as Gods and angels, shaping and destroying religions and, incidentally, entire civilizations in the process, only to watch the next rise and repeat the process. One of these creature would become known as Azazel.
Humans, however, weren’t as stupid as expected: the creatures were cornered and their essence forced into human bodies. Feeling human emotion for the first time, Azazel was rendered mad and died quickly… then was reborn a generation later as a human. The curse was successful: Azazel’s ether would rise quickly at first, and her body would die, and she would be reborn again and again until she became weary of those lives filled with misery and pain. Azazel, once the cruelest of them, became tame. Some generations, she would not awaken at all. But there is someone looking for her, another being like her who suffered the same fate, who has awakened every generation, who has wanted revenge upon humankind ever since… He needs her to fulfill vengeance, his connection to her akin to a destined lover. This is her story: Kumari’s story, with a interdimensional god coiled around her heart, born and reborn to new horrors every time, destined to suffer tragedy after tragedy between then, now, and in the future. It never ends. It never will.
Kumari begins her journey in India as a literature student when she is kidnapped and sent to America, only to be automatically sent to Whitlock Mental Hospital as a patient. There she met Billy Green, an orderly she takes a liking to and with whom she thought she'd found a kindred soul -- she had, in a sense, as he would be the other half of Azazel. Unlike Kumari, Green is more attuned to the creature inside him (Abaddon) and seeks to enact his anger and alternatively, Abaddon's revenge on the world. But without Kumari, he doesn't hold as much power -- Upon his betrayal, Kumari ran, doing all in her power to keep him at bay.
